I let my mind wander, with my eyes I find her, she's a constant reminder of my morality...my mortality She's sleeping...sleeping in Tokyo I see her in the magazine, she's not wearing anything, now I don't know what to think, she's the enemy, she looked so friendly She's sleeping, sleeping in Tokyo

she's not a natural blonde, she just pretends to be an honest girl she says that blondes have more fun, but I can't live in her platinum world from her head down to her toes, I'm the only one that knows, that the color of her hair, ain't the same everywhere she's not a natural blonde

I should have seen the writing on the wall I should have seen my world was about to fall I should have seen her looking away Now I'm thinking of her each waking day Funny how time can heal me, sometimes time just steals from me and you stole my prize possessions, my hope and my trust and confessions, you stole my prized possessions, a sad sad lesson she said her absence wouldn't last long she had to figure out what was wrong she's feeling lately rather less than whole not offense she claimed a tattered soul funny how time can heal me, sometimes time just steals from me and you stole my prized possessions, my hope and and my trust and confessions, you stole my prized possessions...a sad sad lesson listen

about

THE MODERN AGE line up was solidified by the time they started recording this album: Andy Falk - songwriting, producing and guitars/bass, Conrad Williams - drums, vocals, songwriting, Dale Beene- bass, vocals, and songwriting. Drummer Mike Gamble had moved to Atlanta, Georgia by this time and joined the legendary WILD WEST PICTURE SHOW band. Gamble's hard hitting kick drum style left an indelible mark on THE MODERN AGE. Bass player Jack Falk had also left the band to focus on his college studies.

AMERICAN DREAMS represented the band's first cohesive album recorded on an 8 track Teac 1/2" inch tape monstrosity. The band was able to record for free, except for cost of the 1/2" and 1/4" tape and the long caffeine fueled hours of recording from 10pm-6am off hours.

The songs are surprisingly coherent as they were written from 1980-1981 at the height of the new wave "punk" phase which was not known for it's coherence.

Despite being in the middle of the punk scene the band stuck to a Beatles/Rolling Stones format of songwriting that created a more American Roots sound than either new wave or British Invasion.
