about

When we first moved to LA we lived 3 streets away from Melrose in West Hollywood. Melrose was the most colorful and interesting street at first but then it became the place to be for valley girls rebelling on the weekends. That was the inspiration, basically that everything cool gets co-opted and turned into a commodity...then what made it cool is lost forever.

lyrics

MELROSE
Words and Music: C Williams/A Falk - copyright 2001
INTRO: You’re not happy, unless it’s dangerous
VERSE
You don’t pick up new styles, you make the styles
It’s right there on the street, a million miles to Melrose, Melrose
CHORUS
It’s not Hollywood, it’s not Sunset, Sunset
When I kick around and when I go to town oh it’s
Melrose, Melrose
VERSE
Bikini tattoos and motorcycle boots, you’re a slave to fashion and you keep on cashing in on Melrose.
CHORUS
That’s not dangerous…
LEAD
CHORUS
